WELCOME--TWENTY1DAYS

So last week I decided I didn’t like my body, which is not really unusual. I mean, most of us probably feel this way every once in a while, right?

Well instead of lamenting, I decided to do something about it.

I once read it takes 21 days to develop a good habit. I want my good habit to be daily exercise. And I figured there were other folks out there who might be interested in doing the same thing. Hence, [info]twenty1days was born.

HOW THIS WILL WORK

Challenge #1: twenty1days to a rockin’ body
This first challenge will run 21 consecutive days during which you (as a participant) will deliberately exercise on a daily basis. The type of exercise you do is up to you; mods, girlieerin and hannibehr will do lots of yoga. Our twenty1days fitness guru, Sportsstar will mix it up with cycling, combat classes, running and anything else that suits her fancy.

This is not a weight loss challenge. This is simply an experiment in developing good habits. However, for results you can see, the suggested duration of exercise is 45 – 60 minutes 6 days/week and 15 – 30 once/week.

Challenge Details

Start Date: Monday, August 21st
End Date: Sunday, September 10th

Type of Exercise: Your choice

Suggested Duration of Exercise: 45 – 60 minutes 6 days/ week
15 – 30 1 day/ week

To participate: join this community before Monday, August 21st. Click [info]twenty1days and then “User Info” from the header area. On the displayed page, click “click here.”

ok, so, this is aweful of me, but I don't have a real way to go to the gym to exercise anything like that? will that effect this (or will just exercising with my crappy bar thing work)?

good question!

Lots of people (myself included) don't have memberships to a gym. I'm going to be using dvds for yoga and then running outside on Sunday afternoons. I know some other people in here are doing bellydancing, walking, soccer and a bunch of other stuff.

No gym membership required!

Im so absolutely pumped about starting this. Its a perfect time for me to start getting into habits. I jsut started school so I have a real schedule again, and my mom just took all the junk food away(thank god for that!) Im really excited! I love exercising, I just never am motivated and I need some friends to do it with!

Okay, so, i'm involved in a team sport, and starting the twenty first we'll be practicing five days a week. Would this be considered "deliberate" exercise? Can I count this toward my daily exercise, or do I need to add something else on those days that I have practice? Thanks a bunch! :]

i sort of wish this wasn't on the lj home page only because there are so many people in the community and so many posts already that my friends list would drive me CRAZY if i join. and if i don't add it to my friends i won't read it bc i suck like that. but i do think it's an awesome idea and could be very helpful!

You could always create another community to do 21 day challenges! I bet you could find enough people and then close to new members when you didn't want any more.

I did the same thing as oh_embarrassing - I just got online and checked this out because I've been meaning to get myself to exercise and this sounds like a great idea. I can try to participate on my own, though.

thanks for the heads-up. i told someone earlier that i was needing to get back into excercising and was starting on monday. this is surely a sign LOL
